A wonderful Vintage Cartier 18k Gold Cougar Panthere Necklace, sumptuously hand-made in Cartier's Parisian workshop in the late 1990s. This piece features three colours of 750 (18k) yellow, white and rose gold wire, wrapped around a gold solenoid, finished with a pair of sculpted panther heads in yellow gold.
This beautiful necklace is in truly amazing condition. Note that there is a small bend at the back which is very typical of these necklaces due to the design which requires a small twist to the piece as it is put on and removed. There is slight distortion of the wire at the back which is also typical from the bending of the necklace (pictured).
Cartier's exceptional craftsmanship is very apparent in this vintage piece. Cartier describe their tri-colour pieces rather wonderfully, "Three types of gold. Three symbolic colours: pink for love, yellow for fidelity and white for friendship, intertwined in a display of mystery and harmony."
The choker is signed Cartier 750 and with a unique serial number 946***. Its weight is 92 grams.
