A large and beautifully carved Grand Tour Lava bracelet featuring 6 neoclassical female busts. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder but perhaps no one can deny that these faces are beautiful.
These bracelets were the souvenirs of wealthy travellers during the Victorian period. The lava comes from the area around Pompeii and was carved by skilled Italian craftsmen.
The setting is made from 14k & 18k Gold (tested).
Each bust measured 35.44mm x 29mm (1.37 x 1.14 inches).
The bracelet measures 7 inches in total.
There is some evidence of repair (filling on two of the lava panels) and damage to faces concomitant with age.
