This is Cartier's sculptural interpretation of the panther at its most relaxed, with marquise cut Diamond eyes and a Diamond-studded bail.
The story. Cartier's fascination with the panther began with a bracelet watch in 1914. Its prominence grew when the Duke of Windsor commissioned a panther brooch in 1949. Today vintage Panthère jewellery is much sought after by collectors.
Signed and documented. Signed Cartier, with Italian hallmarks for 18k gold inside the bail and a unique serial number. The pendant comes with a copy of a 2005 valuation from Cartier in Zurich. Measuring 59mm (nearly 2½ inches) in length, the pendant weighs 34.2 grams.
