A stunning Edwardian snake or serpent ring from 1905. With clear hallmarks for Birmingham. The four coils eventually transform into a head, laden with graduated old cut diamonds with a total carat weight of approximately 0.5ct. 

The snake or serpent has played a central role in jewellery for millennia. Symbolising transformation, renewal and infinity, the snake conveys a powerful message. The fashion for snake jewellery was reignited when Prince Albert gave a snake engagement ring to Queen Victoria.
