A rare emerald 16-stone ring by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany & Co. now make this design with tsavorite garnets. The original emerald version is no longer produced, which makes examples like this one increasingly hard to find and much sought after by collectors.
The story. Jean Schlumberger was born in Alsace into a family of textile manufacturers. His 16-stone design takes its form from a simple cross-stitch, a quiet nod to those origins. He joined Tiffany in 1956, and the ring was first produced in the 1960s. It has been a signature of the house ever since. You'll find the same cross-stitch motif in our Tiffany & Co. Jean Schlumberger Sixteen Stone Diamond Pendant.
The detail. Eight natural round emeralds alternate with eight natural round brilliant-cut diamonds. Each stone sits in a claw matched to its metal: platinum for the diamonds, 18k yellow gold for the emeralds. The two-metal construction is what gives the ring its crisp, woven look.
Signed and boxed. Signed Tiffany & Co Schlumberger 750 PT 950. Supplied gift-ready with Tiffany & Co. inner and outer boxes.
