Vintage 1981 Cartier Large Panthère Molle Pendant Necklace with Cord & Chain

This vintage Cartier Panthère piece was carefully crafted by hand in 1981. It has Cartier's remarkable sculptural interpretation of the panther form. The pendant is in totally original condition, and is supplied with both the original Cartier chain and a new Cartier silk cord.

Cartier Panthère is an iconic luxury brand collection, inspired by the grace and elegance of panthers. With a history dating back to 1914, Cartier's fascination began with a bracelet watch in 1914. Panthère's prominence grew when the Duke of Windsor commissioned a Panther Brooch in 1949.

Today, of course, Panthère remains a timeless symbol of Cartier's craftsmanship and elegance, whilst vintage Cartier Panthère jewellery has become highly sought after.

This Panthère pendant weighs an extraordinary 44.5 grams, and is 26 centimetres, or nearly 2½ inches in length. It is signed Cartier with French hallmarks for 18k Gold on the bail, and a unique serial number (on the Panther's tail).

The chain is 49 cm or a little over 19 inches and is signed Cartier with French hallmarks; the cord clasp is stamped Cartier 750 (for 18k gold).
