A French Art Deco engagement ring set with an 8.50ct unheated Ceylon Sapphire, in a setting made by hand with detail we have never seen before.
Unheated Sapphires of this size are rare, and we have not handled one of this size and quality in some while.
The Sapphire. A cushion cut stone of Cornflower to Royal Blue, with excellent saturation. The Sapphire was cut and polished over 100 years ago. As part of our Lovingly Restored collection, we have had it repolished by our lapidarist to bring back its original brilliance. London's highly regarded Gem & Pearl Laboratory has certified the stone.
The setting. The pierced setting is entirely handmade, with dragonfly detail on the gallery, and tests as platinum. We have deliberately not polished the shank too vigorously, so the ring keeps its original patina.
