Tiffany & Co Large Elsa Peretti Mesh Scarf Necklace

A rarely available large Elsa Peretti mesh scarf necklace. Currently out of stock at Tiffany & Co with an RRP of £6050. Elsa Peretti was inspired to make mesh jewellery from the silver and gold mesh purses women carried in the 1930s. She tracked down and bought one of the last few remaining machines to produce her famous mesh collection.

Elsa Peretti joined Tiffany & Co in 1974. To say that she revolutionised the jewellery world is an understatement. Take a look at her bone cuff design from the mid 1970s. It could have been designed today. Her smooth naturalistic designs are still as fresh today as they were 40 years ago.

Elsa Peretti moved to Catalonia permanently in the 1980s and set about restoring the entire village of San Martí Vell. The Spain stamp that is found on so many of her pieces stems from her support of local craftspeople and her wish to have direct oversight of pieces bearing her name.
