A rare 1970s Bulgari set: a necklace and a bracelet that join seamlessly into one long necklace.
Vintage Bulgari has become highly collectable, with strong prices achieved at auction, and this is an uncommon find.
The detail. Apart, the necklace measures 15 inches and the bracelet 8 inches; together they make a 23-inch necklace. Every panel and curb link is solid, and the two pieces weigh 127 grams in total.
The story. On Sotirios Voulgaris's death in 1932, his sons Giorgio and Costantino took over the business. They are credited with creating the distinctive "Bvlgari" style, drawing on Greek and Roman classicism, the Italian Renaissance and the 19th-century Roman school of goldsmiths. By the 1960s the house had a star-studded following, its jewellery famously worn by Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor and Gina Lollobrigida.
