The story. Cartier filed the patent for Silverium in 1984, and it was an instant hit; most pieces were made in the late 1980s. Silver and sulphur combine to turn the metal black right through, rather than leaving a surface patina. Lucien Vachey's atelier developed the technique, and his LV appears in the lozenge-shaped poinçon on every piece. Watch the video in our gallery for more.
Condition. In remarkable condition for a vintage piece, with every marking clear. We have carefully cleaned and gently polished it.
The detail. Solidly made and pleasingly weighty at 50.4 grams. Internal circumference TBC.
Signed and boxed. Signed Cartier 750, with serial number, French hallmarks for 18k gold and Lucien Vachey's maker's mark. Supplied gift-ready in its original Cartier presentation box.
