A French, antique cross pendant, crafted from 18k gold and set with seed pearls (untested) and amethysts. Amethysts have long been associated with religious jewellery. The papacy is often associated with purple, the colour of Christ's suffering.
A delicate piece set with five oval cut amethysts and two seed pearls. Manufactured in the late 19th Century in Paris.
From the top of the bail to the bottom of the pendant measures 33mm.
