This gave a black colour throughout the piece, not just a surface patina. This process was developed by renowned jeweller Lucien Vachey, and every piece of black Cartier Silverium is stamped with a lozenge shaped\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003epoinçon\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eshowing the LV of Lucien Vachey or AV for Andree Vachey - his mother's atelier.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe initial patent was filed in 1984 and became an instant hit. Most of Cartier's Silverium jewellery was made in the late 1980s.
