A wonderfully bright and grassy 1ct (approx) Colombian octagonal Emerald sits between two Old mine cut diamonds. The emerald shows moderate clarity enhancement. The ring is supplied with a gemological certificate from GCS.

Made in around 1910 this ring features 2 old cut diamonds totalling 1ct (approx H/VS). Old mine refers to Brazilian mines which were the largest producers of diamonds before the discoveries in South Africa in 1867. Brazilian diamonds are known as "alluvial" diamonds due to their provenance from alluvial sources ie. rivers.

The shank is entirely handmade from platinum. After many years of technological advances in attempting to make platinum a workable alternative for silver (which was too soft for diamonds and tarnished easily) Cartier unveiled a radical collection of platinum jewellery. Platinum's strength and durability meant that it could be fashioned into finer jewellery styles. It was a huge success and platinum became increasingly popular for setting diamonds after this time.

Size is Q US (8). Free resizing is available on this ring. Please let us have your size with your order.
